Lifespan Design Studio (LDS) worked closely with the local design team led by HH Architecture to program and design a 20,000 square foot facility to house programs and services operated by the City and its partners from the public and private sectors (Five Points Center for Active Adults) and a 4,500 square foot satellite facility in an established Raleigh park (Anne Gordon Center for Active Adults). Co-located on a site with a historically significant building, architectural guidelines impacted the exterior aesthetic and placement of the Five Points Center. The more contemporary design of the Anne Gordon Center complements its natural surroundings, while pedestrian and vehicular safety and ease of access/egress guided the review of options for its location in the often-bustling park.
